For these curious, this was made in 2019 by Travis Casagrande utilizing an electron microscope on the Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy.

Zoom out barely from the silicon construction and you may see it is truly perched atop a smiling snowman that is giving a mischievous wink. Pull again even farther and a seemingly large cylinder seems — consider it or not, that is a human hair.
